Hypothesis Testing of MGNREGA - 2

Hypothesis Testing of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act with Data (Case - 2)

Hypothesis -

H0 = MGNREGA does not help to increase the employment in Maharashtra.

H1 = MGNREGA does help to increase the employment in Maharashtra.

Note: You can use following statistical tests if you have enough primary or secondary data -

  1. Z - Test -  (z = (x — μ) / (σ / √n)
  2. T - Test - t = (x1 — x2) / (σ / √n1 + σ / √n2)
  3. Chi-Square Test - Χ2 = Σ [ (Or,c — Er,c)2 / Er,c ]

Table: Worker Employed in Maharashtra from 2018-19 to 2022-23

Figure: Worker Employed in Maharashtra from 2018-19 to 2022-23

In the given data the employment in FY 2019-20 has reduced because of diversion of public expenditure in Maharashtra, but after 2019-20 the employment stared increasing in most of the rural areas of Maharashtra. Currently there are 24,11,259 active employees under MGNREGA as on 30-Jun-2022 01:30:36 PM, and half Financial Year to pass.

From 2019-20 the employment rate in Maharashtra is increasing, Here will reject the Null Hypothesis (H0) and will accept the Alternative Hypothesis (H1) because of the increasing employment rate in Maharashtra.

Hence, Alternative hypothesis (H1) is positively proved.

Note: This is an example from my college project, which I thought would be great if I share over here.
